USB Connectors

Universal Serial Bus (USB) is an industry standard that allows data exchange between and delivery of power to various electronic devices. It specifies the architecture and communication protocols and the physical interface for connections between hosts, such as personal computers, and peripheral devices, such as displays, keyboards, and portable storage devices, and power chargers.

All microcontroller boards connect to a computer using a USB cable and connector. There are five types of USB connectors as shown below, each microcontroller board uses a specific type.
