Power Consumption
Servers with high processing power consume high amounts of energy. They also generate heat, which needs air-conditioning in the rooms they are kept in to keep them cool, which also consumes high amounts of energy. Data that could be stored in one location is now being stored in multiple locations to enable redundancy and transparency, and this further contributes to high energy consumption.
In this day of environmental consciousness and efforts towards moving to green energy, this increased electrical energy consumption is a major challenge.
Hence, for the wide-scale adoption of Blockchain solutions, some improvements to the design will have to be made to reduce energy consumption, considering both the costs and environmental impact.
