Health and Safety

One of the key responsibilities of the civic body of a city or a locality administration is to ensure the health and safety of its residents. Risk to peroperty and life can come in many forms and it is not easy or even possible to deploy enough humans to watch over ever part of the city to ensure nothing goes wrong.

This is where AI/ML solutions can come in very useful. For example, still or video cameras can be placed in homes, around cities, in factories and any other place where security is important. The data captured by these cameras can be fed to image and video recognition algorithms on a real-time basis. These systems will be able to determine if all activity is normal and legitimate or if there is a human or natural risk, such as a criminal activity or a fire. If any abnormal event is detected the systems will send alerts as required. This can help keep homes, cities and factories safe by remote monitoring without needing human presence everywhere and at all times.

In medicine, smartphones can be converted into diagnostic tools using AI/ML algorithms. Images of injuries or other external medical problems can be fed to algorithms that can provide an accurate diagnosis and recommend a course of treatment. While such treatment can never take precedence over the treatement from a human doctor for now, well designed AI/ML algorithms can be very useful for remote areas that do not have easy access to human doctors.

The ability to analyze large amounts of data using AI/ML can also help doctors and researchers find solutions faster than if they had to process huge volumes of data themselves.
